However, the beach also offers its own kind of beauty, with its white sand and calm waters suitable for all kinds of tourists. One particular time when it seems the most people in the city are converging to Copacabana would be on New Year’s Eve, where people dress in white and party till the early morning hours. However, there are also other lesser known beaches included in Rio de Janeiro attractions, such as those found in the Buzios Peninsula, where it’s relative private and quiet all through the year. Rio de Janeiro Attractions That Will Take You on Top of the World


One of the most enduring symbols of Rio de Janeiro attractions would the statue of Christ the Redeemer on top of Corcovado Mountain. Visitors now have easy access to the statue by riding a miniature train that departs from the district of Cosme Vehlo. Along the way, visitors are treated to spectacular sights of the city and the rest of the Rio de Janeiro attractions. Around the foot of the statue is the Tijuca Forest, a natural rainforest that offers unusual opportunities for Rio de Janeiro sightseeing of waterfalls and natural pools.

Also located nearby are the Mayrink chapel that is adorned with beautiful murals, and the Museu do Acude. Along Rue Jardim Botanico is the Botanical Gardens, which contains thousands of plant species both native and imported. Viewing some of the exotic specimens in this attraction lends another unique aspect to Rio de Janeiro sightseeing, as some of these plants may not be seen anywhere else. The Botanical Gardens also houses exotic wildlife species, as well as several species of birds and butterflies. And after having their fill of Rio de Janeiro sightseeing, visitors should not leave the city without stopping by the gargantuan symbol of the country’s love for football, the Estadio do Maracana.

The stadium is actually considered the largest of its kind in the whole of South America and apart from being a sporting venue, it is also where international artists come to perform before enthusiastic Brazilian crowds.
