Sanchez starts her tour from Brazil
Yoani Sanchez, the Cuban dissident blogger, traveled to Brazil on Sunday. This is the start of a long travel which will see in several countries in the recent few weeks. Thirty seven year old Sanchez is a well known critic of Raul Castro, the President of Cuba. Foe so long time she has been denied the white card - the exit permit to leave the country. The award winning blogger had got many invitations from many countries earlier.
Last month, the Cuban authorities offered the exit permit and soon after that they issued the skeptical Yoani Sanchez with a passport and this is the only document which Cubans now require to leave this communist island. Early Sunday at the Havana Airport, Yoani told that she had lived such intense days that it all seems like a dream to her.
Shortly after that she took a plane and headed to South America, via Panama. At the airport she told that she has achieved a small victory as a person, as a journalist, as a citizen, legally, after trying 20 times in five years. She became well known in the year 2007 when she criticized the Cuban government in her blog - Generation Y. she is also a frequent and well known contributor in international media.
She was happy to leave the country. While speaking to reporters, she told that she is not afraid. She has all requirements to come beck to Cuba. She has also made it very clear that she would like to remain a permanent resident of her country.
